Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes in Portimão is hosting the second exhibition of the “Students Prize Algarve”, an initiative sponsored by the Sovereign Art Foundation featuring the artwork of secondary school students who entered the competition that is being held in the region for the first time.
The inauguration ceremony is on March 10 at 6pm, with the exhibition running until March 17.
The competition aims to inspire, encourage and reward young artists in the community and raise funds for disadvantaged children in the region.
The three prize winners will be announced and the artworks will be auctioned to the public with the proceeds being divided between the artists and APEXA, a local charity chosen to benefit from the 2017 competition.
Exhibitions are taking place across the Algarve until May. The first show was held in Lagos marina, and after Portimão it’ll be the turn of Quinta dos Vales in Estômbar to host the students’ art – the inaugural event will be on March 18 from 3.30pm to 6pm. It will be an opportunity to combine art, wine and jazz, with a performance bythe Cool Manouche band.
In the third prize, the winner is chosen by the public who will be able to vote at the exhibitions for their favourite art or voting can be made online at www.Sovereignartfoundation.com
