Young artist Leonor Castro Santos, a Year 9 pupil at Nobel International School in Porches, is holding an exhibition of her paintings in the School Library until the end of term.
Leonor, 14, moved from Lisbon to the Algarve at the beginning of Year 8 and describes her new school surroundings “very inspiring”.
She said: “I have been drawing and painting for as long as I remember; my whole life probably. I couldn’t live without a paintbrush and a set of paint! I can remember, since I was a little girl, I always had a passion for drawing and painting, and have kept sketch books with me all the time.
“In future, I would like to work in an artistic role, perhaps in advertising, magazine design or children’s book illustrating, and I feel that since I arrived at Nobel International School, I have really developed my interests, techniques and my determination. I really appreciate this opportunity to present my paintings and I hope everyone enjoys them.”
Leonor has included captions with her paintings and has created some extra touches to the display, such as paintbrushes and some of her smaller studies, such as flowers from the Algarve.
She is currently working her way through an ideas book, where she collects examples of art and design that she finds inspiring, such as make-up packaging, and she tries out new ideas and captures scenes that she encounters in her daily life.
