Your article on the increase of the export sector in Portugal was really interesting (last week’s edition).
To me it just shows that the economic crisis delivered inspiration to entrepreneurial minds in Portugal and that the Portuguese can succeed in the international arena.
Well done to all the businesses in Portugal which are really pulling all the stops to survive the crisis.
Another interesting aspect is the government’s awakening to agriculture – it is a case of “better late than never”. Portugal has such fertile land, yet it has been turning its back to it. Farming the land was probably considered unfashionable by the younger generations a while ago. I bet they think differently now …
The times when my welcoming elderly Portuguese neighbours used to present me with sacks of potatoes and vegetables are long gone, as have they. I wish I could turn back the hands of time…
