Dear Editor,
I read recently that the Portuguese authorities believe they have had great success by people running a huge amount in fines over unpaid tolls. How on earth can this be judged a success?
Only politicians could put this sort of spin on the tolls disaster. I would love to know how much is being taken in tolls on the A22 and what the total is in fines that have built up and how many have been paid. (My understanding is that very few fines are ever paid.)
I would like to ask the Editor to put in an official request for this information and bet a bottle of Cliff Richards’s sparkling wine that she does not get a straight answer.
I have never seen a case of such official stupidity in all my life with the imposition of these tolls and hope that at the next electoral opportunity that those who are able kick the idiots out.
