Residents affected by the tornado which hurtled through the Algarve last month can apply for financial help until December 31 at the Acção Social department of Silves Câmara.
The funding, granted specially by the government, is intended to help people on a low income to repair their houses, or with other expenses which are not covered by insurance.
Silves Municipal Pools reopens
Meanwhile, Silves Municipal Pools, whose building was severely damaged by the tornado, reopened some of its services to the public on December 3.
The facility’s gym, fitness rooms and fitness assessment office have been reopened, following “hard and steady rehabilitation work carried out by the municipal services,” said a statement by Silves Câmara.
Swimming activities will remain suspended until further notice due to damage to the roof structure.
