Unemployment fell 7.3 per cent

UNEMPLOYMENT FELL by 7.3 per cent in the second quarter of 2006, according to statistics released by the National Statistics Institute (INE). The Minister for the Presidency, Pedro Silva Pereira, welcomed the news and said: “For the first time, the unemployment rate is less than 7.3 per cent since this government took office.”
