A 56-year-old man who shared a video recently in which he appeared to be offering €500 for the heads of Brazilians has been arrested, and will be appearing before a judge accused of inciting violence.
The video ‘went viral’, explain police, “seriously undermining the sense of tranquility and security in the community’ and originating in a number of complaints.
It appears to have been made during the summer, and was filmed at the wheel of a vehicle.
The reasons for the man launching into this barbaric discourse have not been explained – but it transpires that he ‘lost his job’ at a bakery in Romariz (Santa Maria da Feira) as a result.
A communique issued by PJ police in the north says: “It should be noted that the judicial police were already investigating the suspect before receiving the complaints, which merely corroborated the seriousness of the suspect’s conduct.”
The suspect has a police record for crimes against property, says the force.
Comments on the video suggest the man should have used any money he had to fix his teeth and/ or the roof of his car “both of which are rotten”.
