VALE DE Lobo is once again hosting a summer concert by the Orquestra do Algarve.
This year’s event is an open air concert on July 14, starting at 8pm at the Ocean Golf Course, in Vale de Lobo Resort.
The orchestra will be led by German conductor Hans Rainier Förster, who will be making his only Algarve appearance at this event.
Pieces due to be performed include many works byJohannes Brahms, including the Serenade Nº 1, Op. 11 and the Hungarian Dances, numbers 1, 5, 6, 10.
Conductor
Hans Förster was born in Germany in 1943 and studied piano and conducting at the Franz Liszt Music School at Weimar. Förster later conducted the Leipzig and Weimar orchestras and has also worked in the Staatlichen Sinfonieorchesters Greiz as main conductor and artistic director. Between 1992 and 1994 he was the main conductor of the Vogtlandphilharmonie Greiz-Reichenbach, a German philharmonic orchestra.
He has conducted orchestras all over the world, from Hungary, Romania and Russia to Italy, Israel and Taiwan.
Since 1994, Hans Förster has been working as a teacher of orchestra conducting at the Würzburg Music High School.
The Algarve Orchestra made its début in 2002 during the Algarve International Music Festival.
Support
It was founded by maestro Álvaro Cassuto, with support from the Ministry of Culture, the Algarve Tourist Board, the University of the Algarve and various local municipalities. Current Artistic Director is Cesário Costa and Principal Conductor is Osvaldo Ferreira.
