The Our Lady of Fatima Social Welfare Centre provides shelter and support to girls and young women from across the Algarve and is urgently seeking support from the local community.
Located in the heart of Olhão, the Centro de Bem Estar Social Nossa Senhora de Fátima provides housing and support for girls and young women aged between three and 21. Each of the girls has been placed there because the courts or social services determined they were not benefiting from a stable home life.

The girls live on site and, depending on their age, either sleep in dormitories or have rooms of their own. The fantastic staff – led by Dr Bruno Cantigas – provide far more than a safe environment: they offer care, structure and the chance of a different future.
The girls receive support with their studies and with their wellbeing. They are taught about nutrition, cooking and self-care, and they take part in a wide range of social and educational activities.
While the centre receives funding from social services, it is still heavily dependent on the generosity of local businesses and individuals.
Providing girls and young women with the chance of a better future
All donations make a difference and have the potential to change the lives of many young women and of generations to come.
One young woman went on to university, something that would have been difficult to achieve without the help of the centre. Another girl who was in the centre’s care now works there – what a testament that is to the help she received.
In return for a suitable financial donation, there is the possibility of an honorary role at the centre or some other form of recognition for your support. All donations are receipted and may also carry tax benefits.
Bruno and the team do outstanding work. Their care and commitment are making a lasting difference to the lives of girls who need support, guidance and hope.
Any financial support you can offer would be greatly appreciated – call Dr Bruno Cantigas direct at 968 300 593.
