Algarve roadshows drum-up business

Tourism bosses are delighted by response to their Algarve Encanta campaign of roadshows which began in Spain last week.

Desidério Silva, president of Turismo do Algarve, says feedback was “quite positive”, with lots of new contacts and opportunities established.

The roadshows involved 380 travel agents and tour operators over three days in Seville, Granada and Madrid – with a total of 26 Algarve companies, representing over 60 regional hotels, presenting their services.

Silva said he believes the initiative will lead to “an increase in sales in the Spanish market and bring more tourists, more overnight-bookings and more revenue to the regional economy, thus creating more jobs”.

This was the first of three shows. Algarve Encanta will now move on to Galicia (Corunha and Vigo) and then travel into northern Portugal (Porto and Aveiro).
