Socialist mayor of Tavira Jorge Botelho has been elected president of the Algarve Municipalities Association (AMAL). AMAL represents the 16 Algarve Câmaras. The presidential seat is now occupied by a PS mayor after the socialists won in 10 town halls in the recent local elections. “My aim is to ensure the future of the Algarve and its population without looking at political colours,” he said.
