THE LAGOS animal protection society (LAPS) is holding its open day on Sunday (June 24) from 10am until 4pm.
The event promises to be full of fun for the whole family, with several planned activities including a tombola and a range of stalls selling books, furniture, clothes, bric-a-brac and cold drinks in order to raise much needed funds for the charity.
Brigitte Hicks, the owner of LAPS, has been working tirelessly to rescue as many abandoned and mistreated animals as possible since she opened the sanctuary in 1980, hand rearing an incredible 432 animals at home. It was the first animal sanctuary in the Algarve.
The sanctuary is looking after a number of kittens, cats and dogs at the moment but welcomes all animals, including birds and reptiles.
Money raised during the open day will go towards the cost of animal sterilisation, veterinary treatment, feeding and general care of the animals.
The sanctuary is in Monte Ruivo, Odiaxère, Lagos. To organise a visit or help LAPS in any way, please contact Brigitte Hicks by telephone on 282 687 334.
