A 19-YEAR-OLD man was found dead in the sand on Forte Novo beach in Quarteira on Monday.
Jorge Luciano da Silva Guimarães died after falling into a hole he was digging in the sand while three friends were distracted with their backs to him.
Seeing he was not on the beach, they took his belongings home, believing him to have left early.
After being missing for several hours, police retraced his steps and found him buried in the sand.
The Policia Judiciária does not suspect the incident as anything other than a tragic accident and are awaiting the autopsy results.
