Bookworms, behold: Lisbon Book Fair begins today

Over 85,000 books for sale at the historic event

The Lisbon Book Fair (Feira do Livro de Lisboa) begins today, bringing the Portuguese capital’s Parque Eduardo VII to life with over 350 stands and 963 publishing brands selling over 85,000 books.

Now in its 95th edition, the event runs from this Wednesday (June 4) to June 22 and gives visitors a chance to find everything from the most popular contemporary book titles to rarities and classics.

Most books sold are in Portuguese, but several stands also sell a variety of foreign language literature.

Opening hours are noon to 10pm from Monday to Thursday, noon to 11pm on Fridays and before public holidays, 10am to 11pm on Saturdays and 10am to 10pm on Sundays and on public holidays.

Aside from books, the event also features debates, concerts and activities for families.

Admission is free.
