STRUCTURAL REPAIR work on the old bridge across the Arade River in Portimão will mean its closure for around six months next year while the 3.5 million euro project is carried out.
The bridge was on a list, published in 2003, of 160 bridges throughout Portugal that had structural problems. Sixteen are in the Algarve.
Traffic will be diverted to the new bridge and the Via do Infante highway while the old bridge is reinforced.
