A proposal by the PCP to build an International Guadiana Bridge between Alcoutim and Sanlúcar in Spain was voted against by the PSD and CDS-PP on October 4 in parliament. The bridge was described by PCP as “vital to the social and economic development of the north-eastern Algarve”. PCP considered the rejection “a demonstration of disinterest” in this area of the Algarve which will lead to further economic and demographic deterioration.
