MEMBERS OF British rugby side London Welsh celebrated their win over the Portuguese national side with some high-spirited antics at Vilamoura marina in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Eight players drew so much attention to themselves that the GNR had to be called by a marina security guard.
A spokesman for the GNR said: “At 5.30am, a guard called the local GNR, as the players were playing on the yachts in the marina and racing each other. Six of them ran off while two were caught, one of them having taken all of his clothes off and jumped into the water. The player was taken to the GNR station naked.”
No formal accusations were made as no yacht owners have reported any damage and the security guard did not report any damage to marina property.
The spokesman added: “If every apprehension made by the GNR was for silly little things like this then at least we could all share a laugh.” Peter Thomas, chief executive of London Welsh, told the Resident: “The GNR were called by a security guard at Vilamoura marina after the lads decided to go for a swim.”
