A 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed by the GNR while sat in a van with his father and uncle, who were attempting to escape from the authorities after being caught stealing construction material in Loures, near Lisbon, on Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday, the boy’s father was present in court with his brother, charged with robbery, resisting arrest and coercion, where he presented a false identity in the name of José Lourenço.
After being heard by the judge, the father was released needing only to report to the police on a regular basis, before it was discovered that he was already a fugitive from Alcoentre prison, north of Lisbon.
