Classic highlight

Motor racing fans already eagerly anticipating the May 27 arrival of the WRC Vodafone Rally of Portugal featuring the world’s best off-road drivers in the Algarve will be in for an extra special treat this year.

For the first time ever the region presents the Rallye de Portugal Revival over the last two days of the competition proper, involving Classic cars built no later than 1982.

It is expected that the maximum limit of 20 participants will comfortably be reached involving the crème-de-la-crème of this category both nationally and internationally.

This presents a unique opportunity to watch old favourites such as the Ford Escort RS or Lancia Stratos racing against each other- the technical check and ‘shakedown’ as well as the opening ‘Super Special’ stage in the Stadium of the Algarve are planned for Thursday May 27 at a time preceding that of the main World Rally Championship competitors.

Subsequently, the ‘Classic’ route is set to take in Almodôvar, Vascão, São Brás de Alportel, Felizes and Loulé before returning to the Euro’2004 football venue on Sunday, May 30.
