I am writing to you about crime in the area. The best way to chase off retired people is to have a high crime rate.
Either the police are very bad at PR or they are just incompetent. There are not that many residents in the Algarve and any decent police department knows who the bad guys are and where they live.
If you want to stop crime, you need to seriously investigate crimes and put a lot of pressure on the criminals. I recently reported a small crime at the local GNR in Carvoeiro. They did not appear to have much to do. Instead they spend their time pulling people over and checking their registration documents.
I think the press should start publishing statistics on the number of arrests versus the number of crimes, and give these guys a hard time. After all, it is our tax money that funds their jobs.
