VILA REAL de Santo António is set to send 50,000 euros to Playa, in Cuba, to construct a crèche and kindergarten.
This gesture will be the first after the two areas signed an agreement last October to become twinned cities. Câmara President Luís Gomes travelled to Cuba, with the leaders of the areas agreeing to promote each others country and citizens, as well as develop cultural, sporting, educational and health programmes.
