CYPRUS PRESIDENT Demetris Christofias and rival Turkish leader Mehmet Ali Talat met on Wednesday to launch negotiations to reunify the island after 34 years of division.
The meeting was due to address matters of procedure, with negotiations on more specific questions being scheduled for September 11.
Cyprus is divided since 1974 following the Turkish invasion that was triggered by a Greek-inspired coup in Nicosia.
