Headless body of man discovered in central Lisbon

Body of woman found in trunk of car on Caparica coast

Two ‘unusual deaths’ are marking the news in the Lisbon area today: yesterday evening the body of a woman ‘in her 50s’ was discovered in the boot of a car, parked close to a fuel station on Costa da Caparica, Almada.

There are very few details on how the body was ‘discovered’ (given that it was not in plain sight in the boot). There are also no details on the owner of the car. The case is in the hands of PJ police given that it appears to be one of murder.

Hours later, in the centre of the capital, in a location known as Pátio do Salema, the headless body of a man was “found”, reports SIC Notícias, again giving very few details.

It appears the body was discovered in the middle of the ‘pátio’: how/ by whom is all to be explained later.

Observador online has added the detail that the “head was not found in the place where the body was found”.

The dead man has not been identified, Observador adds.

The ‘pátio’ has meantime been sealed off as forensic experts attached to PJ police carry out an initial investigation.
