Five well-dressed women stage IKEA heist; make off in Porsche

One of women was recognised as wife of international drug dealer

Five ‘extremely well-dressed women’ staged an unusual heist on Matosinhos’ IKEA outlet this week, escaping in a Porsche, and a van loaded with their booty.

According to reports, the value of items stolen came to several thousand euros.

Correio da Manhã explains that the women passed with various pieces of furniture (in flatpack form) through the self-checkout turnstiles, disappearing quickly into the lift.

Outside, the Porsche and van were waiting.

Apparently, by the time security guards were aware of what was happening, the women had fled. They left behind one trolley load of ‘shopping’, with the rest of their haul supposedly in the van that also left the scene before anyone could stop it.

One of the women, however, was recognised, says CM. A Porto shopkeeper “recently saw the husband jailed for international drug trafficking” and “the money in his bank accounts was frozen”.

Whatever the truth, CCTV film recordings “will now be decisive to verify the identity of all those responsible for the theft”, the paper concludes.
