A disaster in the bedroom of a Porto couple has left a 59-year-old man dead.
From reports it appears the man’s obese wife was making a romantic gesture towards her husband, who was ‘lying on the floor’ (having left her to lie on the bed).
The woman tripped however, and fell on top of her husband, pinning him between the wall of the bedroom and the bed.
Reports say the woman screamed in panic for help to neighbours, who ended up breaking down the door to reach her – but by the time the woman was lifted off her husband, he was already dead.
According to Correio da Manhã tabloid it took five men to lift the woman off the husband. Her weight has been given as “more than 100 kilos”.
PSP police and other authorities called to the scene which played out in the early hours of Monday morning appear to have concluded that this unfortunate incident was an ‘accidental asphyxiation’, writes CM.
