Dear Editor,
I have run a holiday website for Praia da Luz for some five years now and am pleased to say that I get a lot of feedback from visitors to the town and surrounding areas.
Whilst the feedback is normally totally positive, one topic has already been raised (again) this year by several visitors (5 in 2010 and 23 since 2008).
This concerns the condition of the streets, especially the promenade and beach areas at Praia da Luz.
The amount of dog fouling is again getting ridiculous.
There was a token effort by the council two years ago and I counted three dog waste bins put in place, only one being on the promenade.
There was also a pretty successful round up of ‘wild’ dog packs on which the fouling was blamed.
However, the problem has not gone away and is probably the worst it has been for some time.
Apart from the obvious health issues it raises, especially with the amount of young children playing nearby, it does nothing to promote the resort in these difficult times.
I bring this to your attention as the council do not seem too interested in the problem and I wondered if you had had similar concerns ‘on file’.
