Turismo de Portugal is to transfer €5.9 million to the Algarve’s tourism board next year in a bid to promote the Algarve brand on national and international markets. The budget is similar to that of 2013
Turismo do Algarve’s President Desidério Silva (pictured) told Lusa news agency that the organisation will continue to focus on national and Spanish markets – in line with the strategy taken during 2013.
Silva also announced that €1.2 million-worth of next year’s funds will be transferred to the Algarve Tourism Association (ATA) so that it can promote the region on other international markets.
Silva explained that while his board concentrates on markets closest to the Algarve, ATA will spread the Algarve brand across Europe and beyond.
