National roads operator Estradas de Portugal reported takings to the tune of €1.5 million in August from tolls on roads it controls.
According to the company, the installation of the Easytoll system, designed to collect tolls automatically from drivers with foreign licence plates, saw a 30% rise in use last month, totalling 73,800 registrations which account for much of the revenue. On the Algarve’s A22, the number of drivers registering with the system rose by 18%.
