It’s been over a month since a dredger capsized near Armona, Olhão and authorities still have not been able to remove it from the water.
Floatation balloons that were supporting the boat and keeping it afloat have started losing air, which has complicated its removal.
“We are trying to plug the leaks, but it has been complicated,” Olhão port captain Nunes Ferreira has said.
More balloons are due to be added though the rough seas that are forecast for next week are due to put the efforts on hold once again.
The 80-metre long dredger overturned on January 16 when it was carrying out a sand nourishment operation, causing minor injuries to four people.
