Greg Monks, 38, was last seen in Albufeira
Family members are calling for help to find a British holidaymaker who vanished just hours after arriving in Portugal for a getaway with friends.
Greg Monks, 38, from Glasgow, was last seen between Tuesday night and the early hours of Wednesday morning in the popular Algarve resort town of Albufeira, known for its nightlife and beaches.
Greg had flown into Portugal on Tuesday with a group of friends. That night, they went out together to celebrate the start of their trip, but according to reports, he became separated from the group in the early hours and hasn’t been seen since.
His sister, Jillian, has taken to social media to call for help, asking anyone who might have seen Greg to contact authorities. She also confirmed her brother’s disappearance has been reported to the British Embassy as well as police and his hotel. “We are desperate for info, it’s not like him to do this,” she wrote.
A UK Foreign Office spokesperson has told British press outlets it is aware of the situation. “We are supporting the family of a British man reported missing in Portugal and are in contact with the local authorities”.
A local GNR police source has also confirmed it is investigating the man’s disappearance.
