TODAY (FRIDAY) is the first day of the 28th annual Fatacil in Lagoa, a fair that comprises arts and crafts, tourism, agriculture, gastronomy, industry and commerce traditionally opened by the President of Portugal.
Gathered at the Parque de Exposições in Lagoa will be more than 250 artists from around the country, 350 commercial companies and industries, 120 official and private institutions, 70 exhibitors of commercial art, 125 animal breeders from the agricultural and cattle breeding sectors.
Each day is dedicated to a particular institution or charity and today, the first day of the fair is dedicated to the RTA, the regional tourism board.
During the 10-day fair, which ends on August 26, visitors are invited to compete in various competitions and watch the evening concerts which will include popular Portuguese singers and bands.
Each day the fair opens from 4pm to 1am with tickets costing four euros per person over the age of 12 and free for children under 13. These can be bought at the ticket office at the main entrance.
