Father and son shot dead in Montijo: suspect on run

Suspect “well known in area”; driving ‘light grey car’

A father and his son died last night in a Montijo restaurant after being shot by a man who had a working relationship with the older man.

The suspect, already identified and described in reports as “a man very well known in the region”, made off after the incident in a light grey car.

Both victims were in cardiorespiratory arrest when first responders arrived. Their deaths were declared later in Hospital de Barreiro.

PJ police investigating have been talking to witnesses and family members through the night to understand what may have prompted these murders.

The restaurant – O Apeadeiro, in Sarilhos Grandes – in which the two men were shot was being run by the father, aged 60. It is not clear whether the son, aged 22, was also working in the restaurant, or just happened to be there at the time.

The shooting took place just before 8pm last night.
