YOU MAY have noticed on your recent entrance to the Algarve, from Spain, Lisbon or any other main road, the new signs indicating that you have reached the Algarve. Seven signs have been erected in total, on the initiative of the Região de Turismo do Algarve (RTA), the regional tourism board. Algarve-based Atelier do Sul Design Consultants were awarded the design contract, after the RTA considered the proposals submitted by a number of design companies in 2004. The final result was well thought out and included the sea, sun and almond trees in flower, which are considered as most characteristic of the region.
