A wildfire has broken out in the rural area of Zambujal in Alte, Loulé this afternoon and is being tackled by 45 firefighters aided by 12 land vehicles and one helicopter.
The flames have caused a plume of smoke that can be easily spotted in the sky in the Western Algarve.
According to the national civil protection website, it is the only active fire in the region.
