A small fire, in a wooded area in Vilamoura, began on Monday of this week, a short time after 1pm. It was the first forest fire emergency this year in the Algarve.
The blaze, which started behind the Colégio International de Vilamoura, was fought by bombeiros from Faro, Loulé and Albufeira. It was extinguished within half an hour, confirmed the Comando Distrital de Operações de Socorro do Algarve (the district commander for rescue operations).
