TWO DISABLED athletes are on a journey from the north of Portugal to Faro in wheelchairs to highlight discrimination against disabled people.
José Lima, 53, a paraplegic since 1997 as a result of a work accident in Angola, and Rosa Carvalho, 48, who suffers from familial amyloid polyneuropathy, a genetic degenerative disease affecting the legs, left the northern city of Valença today (Friday) and should arrive in the Algarve capital on August 15.
José Lima held a similar journey and protest last year (see The Resident, August 24, 2007).
