Goodbye Marrachinho

One of the Algarve’s only supermarket groups, Marrachinho, is to disappear from November after all its shops have been acquired by the French Mosqueteiros group.

The chain, created in 1970, was, along with the Alisuper group, one of the only chains dedicated to goods originating in the region, with 16 shops in the Faro district and two in Beja.

The 18 stores were acquired by the French group in March. Eleven of the stores will be transformed into Intermarché stores and six into Ecomarché stores, which are slightly smaller.
