DOMESTIC CONSUMERS will pay around 35 euros each this year in their electricity bills to finance the state’s investment in eco-friendly energies.
According to consumer watchdog DECO, in a report published in daily newspaper Correio da Manhã, the domestic consumer bill is supporting an “unfair” cost that will provide EDP with an extra income of around 352 million euros in 2008.
This value corresponds to an increase of 162 million euros compared to 2007, when consumers contributed 190 million euros for the green investments of the state-owned energy agency and of 246 million euros compared to 2006, when the annual eco-charge was 106 million euros.
