Help the disabled

RIDING FOR the Disabled in the Algarve is looking for active and fun people from all language groups to assist them with its project.

The organisation will shortly be resuming sessions for physically and mentally challenged children and young adults in a specially designed programme, using the horse’s movement to help with their problems. Anyone wishing to help in a very worthwhile way and meet new people should get in contact.

Voluntary helpers are needed to lead horses or walk alongside less able riders. No previous experience of horses or handicapped people is necessary as instruction and help will be given.

Sessions are held during the school week at Pinetrees Riding Centre, Ancão, Almancil (between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo) and last for approximately one hour or, if volunteers are eager, they could even do two sessions in one morning!

The training programme will take place at Pinetrees on September 24 at 10am. Volunteers are invited to go along and meet the team, have a cup of coffee and hear more about the work entailed.

Please contact Claire on 289 992 322 or Sally on 289 397 531 for more information.
