A four-day training camp for fifty top referees from the Irish Football Association took place at the Amendoeira Sports Club near Silves between January 24 and 28.
The Algarve was chosen as the destination for the annual camp by Alan Snoddy, the IFA Referee Development Officer, a retired referee who took part in both the 1986 and 1990 FIFA World Cups.
He said the facilities at the Amendoeira Sports Club are “tremendous”.
During the training camp there were theoretical sessions held covering subjects such as Bribery and Corruption, Offside or Not and Laws of the Game while outside training took place to improve fitness and team work.
