Illustrator Marina Palácio started the pedagogical lectures series of the International School of the Algarve for the school year 2013-2014. The conference was held at the auditorium of Lagos Câmara on Friday last week, gathering more than 60 parents and teachers representing schools of Lagos.
With the support of the municipality, the International School of the Algarve promoted a public debate around the benefits of artistic creativity in teaching methods. Marina Palácio presented a sample of her creativity workshops, promoting reading through corporal expression and plastic creativity.
Marina Palácio is an illustrator and contributor of the education department of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Before the pedagogical lecture in Lagos, Marina Palácio held three sessions of her workshop ‘Massa Folhada’ for students from years 3 to 6 of the National Section at the International School of the Algarve.
The pedagogical lectures will be held each month in a different town in the Algarve, each addressing a different topic, always in public venues and with free admission.
The purpose is to share knowledge with local communities about issues related to the development of children and adolescents.
The next pedagogical lecture will be held at the municipal theatre in Portimão on November 29 with Professor Isabel Santos, a teacher at the Coimbra University who will address a topic which she has been investigating for years: The grieving process in children and adolescents.
