The Central Algarve Ladies Luncheon Group enjoyed a three-course lunch at Restaurant Menta Pimenta in Almancil on October 17.
Group members meet once a month to raise money for various charities in the Almancil area, and in the past have donated money to the oncology unit in Faro, purchased a washing machine and new hot water boiler for the residents of ASMAL, which is a home for mentally ill adults in Almancil, baby clothes and nappies for Castelo de Sonhos, a Silves-based charity, and funds to enable a group of children from the Pirilampos home in Albufeira to go on an outing in the Christmas holidays.
One of the members of the group is Alison Slater from Collections, the travelling clothes shop, and together with some of the members as models put on a fashion show, which 80 of the members enjoyed after their lunch.
Shoeboxes filled with gifts were collected and are ready to be distributed to the elderly residents in Almancil, another cause supported by the group.
