THE SKIES above Praia da Rocha in Portimão are due to light up tomorrow (Saturday) night when the International Pyrotechnics Festival of the Algarve explodes into action.
Some of the world’s top pyrotechnics companies are in the Algarve until September 9 to demonstrate their skills on beaches across the region.
The designers are keen to promote this unique form of expression and amaze the crowds with their artistry using intricately timed colour explosions.
Tomorrow evening will see experts from French company Prestatech Artífices show off their talents in Praia da Rocha, followed by China Jinsheng Fireworks on Praia do Carvoeiro, Lagoa, on August 26.
Meia Praia in Lagos is due to stage the fireworks display on August 29 by Pirotecnia Tomas from Spain and New Fireworks of Brazil is expected to light up Quarteira beach on August 30.
The final fireworks display by Portugal’s own Grupo Luso Pirotecnica is due to take place on September 9 at Monte Gordo beach, in Vila Real de Santo António. The festival promises to tingle every sense and heat up the Algarve’s summer nights.
Each display begins at midnight and entrance is free.
