Student Madalena Severino from the International School of the Algarve near Lagoa has been recognised with a Cambridge Top in the World Award for having achieved the best world mark in the Cambridge IGCSE Foreign Language Portuguese examination taken in June this year.
Cambridge Top in the World awards are given to students worldwide who achieve the highest standard mark in the world for a single subject.
“I am happy. I worked hard, made an effort but I didn’t expect this. It was a surprise,” said Madalena, 14, now in Year 9 (Class A) of the national section.
During the last school year, Madalena moved to Year 9 of the International Section to upgrade her English. “I have learned a lot,” said the student.
