ALMOST HALF of the 3.9 million employees in Portugal earn less than 600 euros a month, according to a report from the national statistics institute.
In the first quarter of this year, the government helped to create a further 37,000 jobs, a third of them part-time positions with salaries below 310 euros.
The report also revealed that more than 340,000 people in Portugal have more than one job and more than 900,000 people work more than 40 hours per week.
