Lunar eclipse

VISITORS ARE invited to the science museum of the University of Lisbon tomorrow (Saturday) to observe the partial lunar eclipse.

This will be the second eclipse of the year and stargazers around Europe and Africa will get the best view of the phenomenon between 9.30pm and midnight.

When a partial lunar eclipse occurs, the sun, earth and the moon are all nearly aligned with the moon falling into the shadow of the earth, this leads to the temporary darkening of the full moon.

This event can be witnessed without any equipment. However, if you would like a closer look, then visit the University in Lisbon to watch the partial eclipse from the observatory. Entry to the Museu de Ciência da Universidade de Lisboa is free.

For further information please contact the University by calling 213 921 808 or visit www.mc.ul.pt, available in English.
