Nestled into the hillside, just before the picturesque mountain town of Monchique, lies a new development promising to provide clients with a brand new experience “unseen at another resort in Europe”.

The Longevity Wellness Resort Monchique promises clients the chance to “live better, live longer” by taking advantage of the facilities at the resort including the exclusive medical spa that has been integrated into the development.

After spending 33 years working for the prestigious Marriott Hotel Group, Anil Sampat has taken up the role of director for the resort, a task that he relishes.

He told the Algarve Resident: “Opening this resort has been an incredible challenge for me but I love it.

“We are living in an era of stress and people now are looking to find a tranquil place where they can relax in a healthy atmosphere while taking advantage of our longevity programmes available from the medical spa.”

The resort offers clients the opportunity to make a property investment that they can then either live in all the time, live in part of the time or choose to rent out.

“What makes this resort different is that someone who buys a suite can enjoy the flexibility of owning their own property while enjoying the benefits associated with a hotel including room service, a laundry service, a top class restaurant and the other hotel amenities.”

While the resort itself is an impressive structure with vast corridors, huge open spaces and multiple levels built into the hillside, it is the Longevity Medical Spa, run by Teresa Malheiro, that is hoped to be the real draw of the resort.

Teresa Malheiro, Spa director, told the Algarve Resident: “I have been waiting to open a medical spa for more than 12 years but nobody in Portugal would consider the idea as it is a totally new concept in spas not only for Portugal but the rest of Europe.”

The medical spa employs six qualified doctors and a nurse and is used in conjunction with the aesthetics spa and the regular spa to help create a holistic approach to ageing and wellness.

“We look after the physical, mental and emotional health of clients using all of our facilities,” she said, and it is this holistic approach to health and wellbeing that is being pioneered at the resort.

“We have a regular spa offering a huge menu of therapies and massages, however the medical spa is used to evaluate clients by running various tests and then using these results to create a suitable programme for every individual.”

Whether you buy a suite, go to stay for the weekend or want to take part in a 30-day age management programme, the directors of the Longevity Wellness Resort believe that it will become a repeat destination for visitors.

Teresa Malheiro said: “We are all very passionate about the project and I am sure that we will see that clients will return year after year to experience everything we have to offer.”
