The man and teenager knew each other personally, PJ police say
PJ police have arrested a 26-year-old man who is suspected of raping a 16-year-old girl in Portimão on June 10.
The man and teenager “knew each personally,” PJ police say in a statement to the press, and arranged over social media to meet in person. The rape reportedly took place after the man parked his car in a remote area and lured the victim to his vehicle. Despite her rebuttals, the man was able to overpower her, the judicial police force says.
After being driven home by the man, the teenage victim told her parents, who alerted police.
An investigation was launched and collected enough evidence to arrest the man, PJ police add.
The man is due to appear before a judge.
