Man wanted in Germany for child sexual abuse crimes caught hiding in Lisbon

According to PJ police, the man fled Germany in July after being caught by his wife sexually abusing his stepdaughter

PJ police in Portugal have arrested a 35-year-old man wanted in Germany for a series of serious child abuse offences.

The man, detained in the Lisbon area by PJ’s Criminal Information Unit, is suspected of committing at least 26 acts of sexual abuse against his stepdaughter since 2020. Authorities say he fled Germany in July after being caught in the act by his wife.

Following a joint investigation and information sharing with German authorities, the suspect was tracked down in Portugal, where he had been hiding with the help of relatives.

He will now appear before the Lisbon Court of Appeal to decide on his extradition.
