MEDIEVAL DAYS are back in Castro Marim and the number of visitors for this year’s event is expected to exceed the 50,000 record of 2006.
The historical fair, which has become a must-see event in recent years, started yesterday (Thursday) and ends on Sunday with a show entitled The Lady and the Dragon, where fireworks will illuminate the night sky, starting at 11pm.
Today (Friday) sees a traditional market, with medieval dancers and street archers, magicians, tricksters and fortune-tellers on hand to entertain visitors. Local and traditional products will be on sale but only for those who dared to change their money to the medieval coins available.
Magic legends with fairy characters and medieval games have been organised for the little visitors and medieval banquets and theatres are expected to take adults on a journey through time.
On Sunday, a medieval parade is scheduled for 4pm, with locals and visitors dressed with medieval costumes, which are available at the Câmara offices.
The Medieval Days of Castro Marim started 10 years ago as a fair to promote local history and products.
